5 Minute Mind – Smell You Later
This is a writing sprint. Please excuse spelling and grammatical errors.
For several days, I had this mad craving for something in red wine sauce. I kept thinking coq au vin, but it wasn’t specifically that yet that red wine braised flavor. I finally broke down yesterday and made a nice dish, totally satisfying what I was looking for.
I wondered why that got stuck in may mind, but the funny thing is the more I thought about it the more I could smell it. When you think about how are senses are all wired together, its amazing. I had no physical dish for several days, yet within my mind I created such as power and persuading image that I could actually smell it. Not only smell it, but begin to taste it.
It also made me think about how the physical sense of smelling can activate our minds the other way. The actual smell of something can evoke such powerful memories itself. There’s a certain aftershave that my father uses to wear. It happens every time. It’s like he’s there with me whenever it smell it.
